At Pension Refugiul Domniței you have at your disposal 5 mountain bikes. You are invited to use them free of charge to ride along the pleasant trails of the Bran area.
Bran – Șimon – Gaura Valley route
Located in the north-western part of the Bucegi Massif, this trail gives you access to one of the most impressive tourist landscapes in the region. The trail starts at the Refugiul Domniței Guesthouse and leads you towards Argeș, passing by Bran Castle. About a kilometre away, you will meet the junction with the road that follows the Șimon Valley. This stretch of road, initially paved, turns into a forest road. From here a gentle ascent begins, and the road continues, along the Șimon stream.
As you go on, you will leave the village of Șimon and follow the forest road which becomes a little more difficult. About 10 km from the start, the trail offers impressive views of the Buceg ridge, with Vf. Lancia to the left and Mount Doamnele to the right. This is the point where the route gets more technical. After about a kilometre, the terrain becomes even more difficult, inviting you to turn around.
Along the trail, you’ll find springs for water supply and. As usual, there is a risk of encountering dogs. This is a medium difficulty trail that offers satisfaction to both cyclists and hikers due to the varied scenery and challenges it presents.
Route Bran – Reitești – Sohodol – Tohanul Nou – Predeluț
Starting from the Domnița Refuge, this route takes you to the centre of Bran, offering a unique experience through the north-eastern part of the region. From the DN, turn left towards Villa Bran and reach the end of the road, the trail takes you to the right, climbing the Reitești hill on the street of the same name. The climb gets steeper, but the landscapes that open up before your eyes are the perfect reward for the effort.
The trail continues through Sohodol, where you’ll come to a junction. Here, choose to go left and then right, starting the descent. Carefully on the unstable gravel, the descent will eventually take you to the “Un baiat si o fata” restaurant.
For the return, you have the option of following the less busy country road that follows the river. The road will lead you to the church in Predeluț, marking the end of this scenic adventure. It’s a medium trail in terms of difficulty, perfect for an active afternoon in nature.
